The high-quality cotton used to produce our clothing is certified by independent agencies ECO-CERT (Germany), SKAL (The Netherlands), and IMO (Switzerland), guaranteeing the organic label of the fabric. The organic cotton is also in compliance with fair trade standards, grown on 800 hectares in the Maharastra region of India by a cooperative of 300 farmers who are paid an advance for their product.
It is crucial that our cotton is healthy and sound for the environment. The production of conventional cotton is in fact one of the most polluting activities in the world. With the cotton industry representing less than 2.4% of cultivated land, it necessitates more than 20% of the world’s market of insecticides and 11% of pesticides. In contrast, the cultivation of organic cotton thus allows for the preservation of health of the small producers, avoids excessive pollution to the earth, and takes part in sustainable development. |
