Our garments are made with organic cotton, cultivated by small producers in the Maharastra region of India. Based in the southern part of Tamil Nadu, our organic clothing workshop is managed by Franciscan nuns and supervised by the International Fair Trade Association, the global network of Fair Trade businesses.
The workshop is the result of a not-for-profit regional rehabilitation program that aims to train and employ 120 women who belong to disadvantaged castes or live with disabilities. In partnership with this project, Machja allows these women to work in healthy conditions: in addition to learning a craft, the workers are fed, housed, and above all, paid a living wage.
